Hastings family papers : Legal papers, 1329-1863, (bulk 1603-1714).

Papers relating to approximately 110 legal cases, most of them involving the Hastings and Rawdon families and their associates and relating to lands and other property rights. Henry Hastings, 5th Earl of Huntingdon (1586-1643), Ferdinando Hastings, 6th Earl of Huntingdon (1609-1656), Theophilus Hastings, 7th Earl of Huntingdon (1650-1701), and Theophilus Hastings, 9th Earl of Huntingdon (1696-1745) appear in five or more cases, either as plaintiff or defendant. Many of the cases are far from complete, containing only draft briefs, extracts, opinions, fines, petitions, notes or memoranda.

Under James II, he held offices of Chief Justice in Eyre South of the Trent, and Lord Lieutenant of Leictershire and Derbyshire.
